Stress- How It Works and How to Beat It

Close your eyes and think for a moment about all the tasks that you have to get done this week. Do you feel as if this list doesn't end? You are not alone.

Every day we have a certain schedule which includes plenty of tasks and assignments. Our daily schedule is not only work related. House chores, going to the gym, spending time with family and friends is a big chunk of the daily routine. All these “small things” add up tension and stress.

In modern world people are competitive, full of ambition and seek for perfectionism. Stress became a part of our daily life due to these factors. It is almost impossible to complete all the tasks in one day. The stress is adding up and we even have a feeling of lacking energy at some point. It creates stress, which causes lack of concentration, sleep disturbance and appetite, irritability and anxiety.

Stress imbalances our life and is a reason for about 70% of our health problems. When our body’s resources (vitamins, energy and etc.) are dwindling, our immune system becomes vulnerable. As the immune system becomes weaker, there is less resistance to pathogens which lead to various diseases.

However, I want to share with you certain mental relaxation techniques. You can practice them in the evening after a long day. First, pour in your cup some "Halo Gonseen" and relax your mind.

Stimulated breathing technique:

The following steps are recommended to perform in a quiet and peaceful environment. The more you implement them on a regular basis, the better you relieve your mind and reduce stress.

Step A: Settle yourself in a comfortable position. You can lie on your back with a pillow placed under your head or below the knees, or you can sit in a comfortable chair.

Step B: Close your eyes. Take a slow and deep breath through the nostrils until your lungs are filled with the air.

Step C: Count till three in your heart, and then exhale slowly through your nose.

Step D: Count till three and repeat steps A through C for at least 10 minutes.

The key to achieve stimulated breathing technique is to create a slow and steady respiration rate. A steady breath allows more oxygen to flow within your body, which reduces tension and eliminates stress.

Meditation:

There are numerous meditation techniques. In order to achieve some peace, we need to concentrate on our thinking. By focusing on our inner side we help our mind to relax and reduce some stress.

As an example pick your favorite image or painting. Focus on the small details of that image. It can be a color or a shape within that image. It will help you to block unnecessary thoughts inside your brain. The secret of this technique lies in the selection of well-known painting, or a familiar place or even an activity done in the past that your mind would like to return to.

To summarize, our beliefs and thoughts are a part of our daily busy life. We can reduce emotional outbursts by concentrating on the inner side and practice breathing techniques. The more you learn about yourself, the more you understand what drives you. Once you achieved it, you can develop skills such as forgiveness, giving, compassion and love. You need to learn to deal with the stress in order to prevent diseases and live in a good health.
